Today Sir Thomas Cullinan’s great grandson, Mark Cullinan, continues the family tradition of prospecting and diamond discovery through Cullinan Diamonds.
Since 1995, Mark Cullinan has been involved in the diamond industry in investment, prospecting and buying and selling diamonds. An Oxford University MA Graduate, his initial exposure to diamonds was through a family investment in the Venetia Mine, the largest mine in South Africa which produces almost half of South Africa’s diamonds.
After attending various diamond conferences including the World Federation of Diamond Bourses in Tel Aviv in 2000, he undertook Diamond Grading courses in 2001 at the Hoge Raad voor Diamant (HRD) in Antwerp in both “Diamond Grading and Certification” of polished diamonds and the HRD course in “Rough Diamonds”.
Mark was actively involved in diamond prospecting in South Africa from 2004 for a period of 10 years.
